孩子可以从哪里吸收钙质? 

可以从日常均衡饮食中吸取钙质。一般而言,乳制品奶、乳酪芝士、加钙豆浆果汁等为好的钙质来源。豆腐深绿色蔬菜亦可提供钙质。

鲜榨豆浆能代替牛奶吗? 

不能。鲜豆浆的钙质极低,而蛋白质含量亦比牛奶及奶类产品低。

早餐应吃什麽? 

早餐应均衡的吃含有碳水化合物、蛋白质及脂肪的大营养素食物,如面包加 蛋、低脂奶及一个生果。

不吃早餐反而引致肥胖? 

脑细胞及红血球须依靠葡萄糖来维持正常运作。若长期不进食早餐,身体会减慢其他细胞及器官的运作以腾出养份;久而久之会减慢整体新陈代谢,成了肥胖的元凶。

水果要先煮熟才给宝宝吃吗? 

香港位於亚热带,气温不会太低,所以一般即食果蓉毋须烹煮。如果家长想加热,建议以器皿盛载隔水蒸,减少水溶维他命的流失。

Why shouldn’t my child drink ordinary cow’s milk before one year old? 

The proteins in cow’s milk are difficult for young babies to digest and may occasionally cause slight intestinal bleeding. This little blood loss will not be visible in a diaper, but it has a negative effect on iron status if more iron is being excreted than absorbed.

How to boost iron absorption? 

Vitamin C increases iron absorption so eat foods rich in vitamin C with those that contain iron (e.g. beef with pineapple). If iron supplement is used, do not mix iron drops with whole-milk formula as calcium can slightly hinder iron absorption, but there is no need to space out iron- and calcium-rich foods.

My daughter has been drinking plenty of milk but she is still short. Should I give her calcium supplement? 

Genes determine the tallest height a person can attain. Whether tallest height can be attained depends on appropriate nutrition and good health. If a child whose diet is already appropriate, more calcium intake will not change the genetically programmed height. Moreover, excessive calcium intake from supplement leads to adverse effect, for example, reduced absorption of other essential minerals.

假如孩子15-18个月大仍未懂得走路,家长应带孩子让儿科医生检查找出原因。香港小孩极少出现缺钙情况。假如真的缺钙,要先找出原因才按需要补充钙质或维他命D(苏医生)
